Black Leopards up against Baroka in battle of the weaklings
After playing two Motsepe Foundation Championship League matches away from home, Black Leopards will be back at Thohoyandou Stadium this Sunday to host Baroka FC.

Newly promoted PSL Motsepe Foundation Championship League side Gomora United will play their future home matches at the newly revamped Malamulele Stadium, after deciding to relocate from Dobsonville Stadium in Gauteng to Vhembe.
After playing two Motsepe Foundation Championship League matches away from home, Black Leopards will be back at Thohoyandou Stadium this Sunday to host Baroka FC.
Teams affiliated with the Limpopo Stream of the ABC Motsepe League are gearing up for another action-packed weekend. One match will be played on Friday afternoon, with the rest of the fixtures scheduled for Saturday.
The province’s top sports personalities and organisations from various sporting codes were rewarded on Saturday, 24 January, for their exceptional achievements in 2025 at the Limpopo Department of Sport, Arts and Culture’s Provincial Sport and Recreation Awards, held at The Ranch Hotel outside Polokwane.
Venda Football Club (VFC) are preparing for a crucial Motsepe Foundation Championship League clash against Gomora United at Malamulele Stadium on Friday afternoon, following their 2-1 defeat to Casric Stars at Thohoyandou Stadium on Tuesday.
Teams affiliated with the Limpopo stream of the ABC Motsepe League will be back in action this weekend. Matches scheduled for last weekend were postponed to a date yet to be announced after heavy rain fell across most parts of the province on Saturday morning.
Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC (TTM) head coach Lucky “King Mchichwa” Nelukau believes his side will prove critics wrong when they face Betway Premiership outfit Orlando Pirates in their Nedbank Cup round-of-32 match. The draw was conducted last Thursday evening.
After a break of about two months, the battle for promotion and the fight to avoid relegation resume this weekend in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.




In their bid to revive their league campaign, Black Leopards are leaving nothing to chance as they work to strengthen an underperforming squad. Club chairman Tshifhiwa Thidiela said that while most Motsepe Foundation Championship clubs allowed players two or three weeks’ rest during the FIFA break, it was business as usual at Leopards.
Venda Football Club (VFC) have recalled Malawian striker Adepoju Babatunde as they push for promotion to the Betway Premiership at the end of the current season.
Veteran female runner Jane Mudau once again claimed the top spot on the podium, winning the Three-in-One MM Active Road Race half marathon in Thohoyandou on 27 December. The event also featured 10 km and 5 km races.
Shilumani Academy was crowned overall champions of the Annual Magangeni Soccer Tournament, defeating Waterval Real Stars in the final on 30 December. The match ended in a goalless draw, with Shilumani Academy winning 4–3 in a penalty shoot-out.
Athletes from Vhembe and other regions will compete for honours in the MM Active Road Race in Thohoyandou on 20 December.
The Top T Soccer Challenge, featuring 16 teams, will kick off on 24 December, with the final scheduled for 27 December at the Mamvuka Grounds. The tournament recently secured a R100,000 sponsorship.
